Full-Time Foreman and Project Manager

NCI is currently looking to fill positions for full-time FOREMAN and PROJECT MANAGER FOREMAN who will help to lead crews and deliver great landscaping work for the customers. The Foreman is primarily responsible and accountable for the quality completion of jobs and the crews of laborers at project sites, and sometimes multiple project sites, as noted on daily work orders. The Foreman may have specific focus as Maintenance Foreman, Install Foreman, or Masonry Foreman based on experience and skills. This role is a Supervisory position and may have have laborers reporting directly.

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Supervision of Crews

  • Play a lead role and be responsible for managing multiple crews and multiple job sites; supervising, leading, directing and coaching crews while at job site to complete projects within established guidelines and includes adherence and enforcement of all company policies and procedures; addressing crew member issues promptly, providing discipline when necessary
  • Lead crew members to demonstrate safe and efficient practices and equipment use while ensuring high levels of productivity and customer service at all times
  • Serve as first line communicator to field crew, communicating important information while supporting and advancing company values and standards
  • Lead training and orientation process of new crew members; providing feedback on performance and ways to improve; supporting crew members in their advancement and recommending for promotion, when warranted

Production

  • Receive work orders for the day ensuring no changes from the previous day, getting all information/directions/drawings/notes and details necessary; closely read, review and understand all details and ensure complete understanding
  • Review daily personnel sheet; organize and gather crews; work closely with them to ensure production and adherence to work orders.
  • Job site walk arounds and reviews daily; proactive and vigilant on customer issues and matters relating to safety and customer service.
  • Follow all safety and work conduct rules and provide regular safety or other training, as necessary  Seasonal on call snow removal work

Administration

  • Update all work orders daily and provide all necessary details; submit completed and noted work orders; ensure clarity on time & materials work compared to proposal
  • Be proactive in supervision and preparation and list any action items for the following day; check in with the
  • Manager before 3 pm to ensure projects are on track and there is regular work to schedule
  • Submit crew members’ time cards to the Manager or designated official, by payroll deadline; attend any meetings as requested; stay informed on company information and communicate to crews; track vehicle and equipment damage

Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of common plants; understanding of horticulture practices such as planting, pruning, mulching, watering, weeding, etc.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of basic landscaping gas and engine hand held equipment, commercial grade mowers and in operating a truck with trailer
  • Ability to effectively manage personnel and provide leadership; and manage time and work within time schedules
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written and read and comprehend all written items; Spanish or bilingual skills preferred, but not required
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills; and strong customer and client focus
  • 3 years of landscaping experience; experience in landscape installation; supervisor and project management experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED; Valid Drivers’ License; DOT certification; CDL License preferred
